THE HAIR RULES BLOG
Rule Your Texture

Our hair is magnificent. We are magnificent.

You can’t exactly have a conversation about Black history without discussing hair. We love and embrace February’s celebration of culture, individuals, movements, and so much more, and at the end of the day, Black history is at the core of who we are and what we do all year long. How we view our hair is rooted to how we perceive ourselves and our identities. Hair is layered with complexities that go far beyond superficial looks and speaks to the collective journey so many men and women still share today.

“Don’t remove the kinks from your hair. Remove them from your brain.”

-Marcus Garvey

Our hair is tied to traditions. It’s woven into how we connect with ourselves and one another. Whether it’s simple “hair talk” or the more intimate process of trusting someone enough to take care of our crowns, the impact of our hair affects us daily. At Hair Rules, it’s our source of inspiration; it’s what drives our courage to share our belief that ALL textures should be embraced and loved. We celebrate all hair, from straight to kinky textures, because we know progress lies with accepting everyone.

Everyday, we aim to educate and help our clients rediscover their natural texture while simultaneously detangling and cutting away myths and mockery knotted around and in their hair. We strive to inspire our clients to feel empowered and full of self love, beginning with their hair. Our ultimate hope is to support all textures in remembering that your hair doesn’t have to change because someone else believes it should.
